Healthy Communities
The Sylvania Community Action Team supports various campaigns that address the issue of at risk behavior including drug and alcohol use amoung our young people. Some of those campaigns include:
D.A.R.E.
S.C.A.T. supports the D.A.R.E. program in our community. This well-received program places Sylvania City and Township police officers in fifth grade and seventh grade classrooms for a ten week period. The officers interact with students and teach them skills that will help them resist the tempation to use drugs and alcohol. S.C.A.T. plays an important role in D.A.R.E. by writing grants to obtain federal money to help fund the program.
Parents Who Host the Most
A program of Drug Free Action Alliance. This campaign informs parents of the health and safety risks of serving alcohol at teen parties.
Start Talking Before They Start Talking
National Campaign focusing on parents talking to their children about alcohol.
Parents' Week
This week celebrates the importance of parents and/or other adult care givers to all children. It recognizes parenting as the toughest job one will ever encounter and at the same time the most rewarding. For more information regarding Parent's Week activities refer to "S.C.A.T.
